At check-in, the receptionist asked for a €300 security deposit, saying it would be refunded when I checked out. I could pay by cash or card, and I used my MasterCard. When I checked out, they asked for the card to process the refund, but the transaction was declined. The receptionist said this was because seven days had passed and the money was now frozen. She told me to wait for it to return to my account within 7 to 10 days. It’s now been more than 10 days and the money still isn’t back. The hotel says I need to contact my bank, while the bank says I have to wait 31 days. That’s not acceptable when I was promised the refund at checkout. Also, when I checked in, the receptionist wrote down my full MasterCard number, expiry date and three-digit security code on an A4 sheet and kept it. That directly violates MasterCard’s terms and conditions for merchants.

The apartments have everything you need and are clean, though a little dated. The central location is handy, and the duplex layout worked well for travelling with teenagers. We’ll definitely come back.

Ivo and the other reception staff gave great service. The location is great too, about a 10-minute walk from the beach and not far from the modern strip or Albufeira old town. There are some lovely local restaurants and bakeries close by. One thing to know is the €300 deposit: booking sites suggest it’s for large groups, but it also applies to small groups and solo travellers, which I don’t think is fair or ideal. Apart from that, everything was spot on.

Just got back from a lovely week here with my mum and sister. The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were clean. The maid was cheerful and kept checking if we wanted the room cleaned, even when we hadn’t put the sign on the door. The only small issue was young people making noise on their way to their rooms around 4am. That’s not the hotel’s fault. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful week.

They said they’d upgrade our room for my birthday, but never did. Instead, I got “happy birthday” written on a piece of toilet paper. The room itself was fine and clean, and for the money it wasn’t a bad stay, with a good location. It can be confused with Luna Hotel De Oura next door, since photos of both hotels are shown, and I thought I’d booked the one beside it.
