The surroundings are stunning and beautifully cared for. Not a bit of litter or a weed in sight, and the gardeners handle everything around 6am without making a sound. It’s a lovely, quiet area next to houses, private apartments and second homes, ideal if you want peace at night. The hotel and apartments are lovely too, with great people. The beach is about a five-minute walk away, with tennis and Pine Cliffs golf resort nearby. There’s English food close by and a shopping precinct with life’s essentials. Taxis to the shopping areas are cheap to moderate, and the hotel uses very swish black Mercedes-Benz taxis.

The rooms were perfect, no complaints there. Dinner was okay, but there wasn’t much choice or variety. There were lots of small children around.
