Villa Clara by Sunny Deluxe

This large villa could be fantastic with better care and facilities. The bedding and pillows were very poor, the shower tray was broken and leaked across the bathroom floor, and an ensuite toilet was blocked and unusable. There were ants in every room, and they should be sprayed for regularly. The pool and loungers were filthy when we arrived, so we had to clean them before the holiday could start. Not a great welcome. On the plus side, the kitchen is large and has plenty of crockery and utensils. I wouldn’t stay again unless things were improved.

We were very disappointed. Our group of 14, a mix of ages, had booked for a hen do because the listing said there was a hot tub. I even asked through Booking.com and was told there was one. There wasn’t an outdoor hot tub when we arrived. Maybe something got lost in translation, as there was a spa whirl bath in one bedroom, but in UK usage a hot tub means an outdoor jacuzzi. We wouldn’t have booked if we’d known, since that’s what we were looking for. I paid for four extra beds and was charged twice. They were on the lower floor, where I was told on arrival not to use the bathroom toilet because it was blocked. That toilet also served the other double bedroom, so six people were affected. Nobody offered to fix it, and we had to wait or go upstairs in the dark at night. The ground-floor shower leaked and its tray was broken. There were lots of ants in three bedrooms, not just a few. Even though we were careful not to leave drinks or anything in the rooms, ants were everywhere, and we had to buy spray. The sunloungers were dirty with ingrained grime and insects, and the pool had many indescribable things on the bottom and floating on top. It looked like nobody had stayed there for a while, but the villa should have been properly cleaned before we arrived. I was also kept waiting two weeks for my 500€ security deposit, despite there being no damage. That was VERY inconvenient. We had no linen bags for our used sheets and towels, and the bedroom pillows and coverings felt like fresh air. There’s potential here with some care, investment and better administration. The property is very large, the location was good, the kitchen well equipped, and a taxi to the main strip cost about 4€. Edit: The owner’s reply below is COMPLETELY UNTRUE. YOU texted ME to say not to use the toilet because it was blocked. I asked you by text to clean the pool and loungers, and someone came that evening, but the toilet was blocked and unusable when we arrived. As I said, the hot tub mix-up may be a translation issue, but I think it’s worth mentioning because we wouldn’t have booked without an outdoor hot tub. I’ve stayed in many villas with gardens and never seen ants like this. The delay with the deposit wasn’t Nat West Bank, it was YOU releasing my money. Your reply only reinforces why I left a poor review. AVOID THIS COMPANY. They don’t value customers and provide poor service before, during and after your stay.
