We came for two nights while we were at a nearby wedding. The little family-run hotel was peaceful, with a lovely vineyard view, and our room was spacious and clean. It felt warm and welcoming, with a couple of very sweet dogs wandering about. I’d requested vegan breakfast without expecting much, but they made a real effort: vegan yoghurt, milk, cheese, and ham. Such a charming place to stay!

You can walk into the small city from here, and there are cosy places to eat, though I didn’t find them fancy or luxurious. The stay itself feels more like a B&B than a hotel, which is part of the appeal. Set in an old winery chateau, it has that relaxed, informal feel, and you feel at home.

We stumbled across this cosy, family-run quinta and found the rooms spacious and very clean. The owner’s daughter helped us with everything we needed, from a jogging track to restaurant suggestions, and we had such a good stay we wished we could have added a few days. Breakfast was a highlight: delicious and very fresh, served just for us by an older lady in a huge dining room. A great place to unwind and recharge!

Customer service was really lacking. Because the airport had closed due to bad weather, an exceptional situation, we let them know and asked to move our already-paid booking to a later date. They said no. For a three-star hotel, it’s also disappointing that late check-in isn’t possible. They only speak Portuguese, which made communication difficult.
