I haven’t stayed in the hostel, but I’ve enjoyed this place for years for its music, skate bowl, and friendly feel. I joke with friends that it’s where the “cool kids” hang out. Families can come for pizza and live music, and groups of friends looking for a great hangout in Vale da Telha will find it works for them too.

We arrived at Boa Vida in Portugal two weeks ago and immediately felt the lovely atmosphere. The people were great, and the beaches and sunsets were wonderful. It’s a bit of a walk to the beach, but the hostel folks made us feel welcome and even gave us a ride. A lovely spot for skating, surfing, and taking it easy.

The skate bowl was fun to watch, and the jam band played some good tunes. I went one night for the food and music, and the chorizo sandwich was tasty, with fresh ingredients that impressed me. Good times, with a laid-back surf and skate feel.

There’s a big kitchen guests can use, and it’s clean and set up with what you need for a longer stay. The place has great music and food too. One tip: bring plenty of bug spray and a mosquito net if you want to sleep peacefully. Mosquitoes love me, and I got eaten alive.

The concrete skate bowl in the backyard is a nice touch, and there are always friendly people around. Wednesdays and Saturdays are especially lively, with music, food, drinks, and skaters taking a session. It’s a really relaxing place, and well worth a stop if you’re nearby.
