Casa Vicentina

Our first two-night stop on the InnTravel hike has been fantastic. The host, Pedro, was great, serving a dinner the kitchen ladies had prepared earlier. As hikers, we got to eat in while everyone else had to drive to the village. He recommended excellent wines for the meal and a good Port with dessert. Our room is huge, with the biggest, most comfortable bed ever, and opens onto a grassy lawn with a pool. We didn't swim, though some of the other guests did. The pool sits beside a couple of large ponds full of wildlife. We'll be back.

We spent a week here with our toddler, and the place was set up thoughtfully for children: there was a cot, high chair, kids’ cutlery, toys, a playground, and a big lawn where our son could run around. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious, especially the wholegrain croissants. The cottage was roomy and nicely green, with a lovely pool, though it was too cold for us to use more than once. Our rooms were very clean, cleaned daily, and towels were changed every other day. The kitchen had enough equipment, and in the two-bedroom cottage the second bedroom is on a mezzanine. There are lots of beaches nearby, but you’ll need a car for getting around unless you’re here to hike. The Rota Vicentina is about 2.5 km away.

We had an incredible family stay and would happily return to our favorite part of Portugal. The setting has a great feel, with clean accommodation, friendly staff, and walking routes around the property. Breakfast was simple and tasty. Some beautiful beaches are just 15 minutes away, and you can bike to the nearby nature park along the cliffs. We also had amazing weather the whole time, perhaps thanks to the area's interesting microclimate.

Ana was always helpful and explained the area to us. We also really enjoyed the breakfast, and everything was very clean. The pool wasn't in good enough condition to use, though, and the bungalow could feel cramped for a family of four on a longer stay. Even so, we had a very nice time at Casa Vicentina.
