5th Element Beach House Caparica

The bed was large and the shower had great water pressure, so we were comfortable during our stay. The place is close to central Costa de caparica, on a pleasantly quiet street. I presumed the owner was the one who greeted us as he was heading out, and he was welcoming. We stayed in the small outhouse, though, and there was no window latch. My partner felt uneasy sleeping on the ground floor with a window that couldn’t be locked.

Ricardo and his family were kind, and the house was immaculate. We had everything we needed, including an open lounge where we could sit and reflect on the day’s adventures. I was visiting a friend in Caparica, and staying here made the trip even better. There’s plenty to do nearby, with excellent beaches and bars, and the location worked well for day trips along the coast. Trafaria is a short drive or a nice walk away if you want to take the ferry to Lisbon. Friendly, clean, affordable, and close to everything you’d want in a beach town. I hope I can come back someday!

The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, and you can borrow one of the bicycles kept for guests. It’s a nice room in a nice villa, in a good spot in Costa da Caparica, and the owner is nice too. I’d come back.

We spent a week at the 5th Element for a surfing trip, and it was so easy to unwind there. The peaceful, cozy place has a big yard with a sitting area and a hammock, a well-equipped kitchen for cooking or making coffee, and quiet rooms where we slept really well. Everything feels lovingly furnished. Richard and his wife are wonderful, helped us out a lot, and we had some great conversations. Their lovely dog was always ready to play, but doesn’t go into the sitting area. You’re only a five minute walk from the sea, with surfing for beginners near shore and more advanced surfers further out. We rented beginner boards from a surf shop just around the corner, and the classes we booked had only a handful of people at most. Nearby you’ll also find good restaurants, cafes and lunch spots, ATMs, surf shops, supermarkets, and just about everything else you need. We especially recommend Mercado for really special food, and Ahoy for fruit juices, smoothie bowls, salads, and sandwiches. If you’re coming to Costa da Caparica, we recommend staying at the 5th Element.
