There was no one at reception, and the place didn't look like the photos. The bedding wasn't clear, the room smelled like rotting vegetables, and the dining rooms and other areas were locked, so we couldn't use them. They also didn't have the things they said they would, including baggage storage or a shop. My friend fell on the stairs after water had been thrown down them, with no wet floor sign. It felt more like a hostel, and it would have been nice to have staff around. We were just given a door code, and our room was left open for us to find on our own.

We booked two rooms for four nights with our kids this summer, and the air conditioning wasn't working. I tried to reach the owner or manager, but got no help for the first two nights. The rooms felt like ovens. We were given a small standing fan for the final two nights. The worst guest house ever, with no service. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

The rooms are dated, the spring mattress wasn't very comfortable, and leaks left the shower with almost no pressure. You could easily hear people through the paper-thin doors. I'm still waiting for my receipt a week later, and I need it for work expenses. Only come here as a last resort.

The prices are fair, and we didn't need to book ahead. The rooms were clean and spacious, with a balcony and bathroom.

Almancil is a convenient central location, and the place itself is clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here.
