Quinta do Lago House

We only spent one night in a garden villa, but it was lovely and peaceful. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the garden had a table, chairs and loungers. The whole area was green and well kept. Good value for the price, and I'd recommend the hotel.

The on-site shop, restaurant and café were all great, and we had a positive stay from arrival through to departure. There are beautiful golf courses on the property, but I couldn't try a round because of shoulder surgery. I'll definitely play next time. Looking forward to coming back.

I picked this resort as a central base for golf in the Algarve, and it's the best option I saw in QdL. The villas are spotless, quiet and safe, with everything working and fantastic bathrooms. The staff were outstanding. I was too busy golfing to try the pool, though it looked like a real treat for a Canadian coming in from winter in late February. Superb self-catering villas, right in the heart of Quinto do Lago. I loved it.

I paid 536 for the week in low season. I imagine high season could cost four times as much. The villa could comfortably sleep four, perhaps six at a push, though with just two of us it felt huge. I booked through Agoda and got the bigger villa for the same price as the smaller one on Booking. The two-bedroom place was modern, clean and among the best self-catering stays I've had. It had everything from knives and dishwasher tablets to ironing gear and Sky Sports. I could live there, it was literally bigger than my house. The Spar shop was well stocked with milk, bread, butter, wine and beer at reasonable prices. NOA cafe, a short walk away, was pleasant and not madly expensive. There's also il vero on campus, which is well rated, though I didn't try it. For golf, the location is right in the middle of the golfing triangle, so I'd give it 5/5. For other outings, you'll need to drive: Almancil is 15 minutes away, Vilamoura about 30, and the beach 10-15. The pub, supermarkets and most restaurants also take a drive to reach. Staff were friendly and obliging. This is a fantastic four-star resort, but calling it five-star would be generous.
