Victory Village 1B Quinta do Lago

I'm not sure the worst room is worth £600 a night. There's nothing specifically broken, but the place feels a little old and run down, and the service doesn't match that price. With staff probably earning so much, I do wonder where all the money goes 😅 The breakfast is fine, though the food isn't particularly good. The spa is pretty terrible, and the outdoor pool is just meh. It's not especially pretty, and it looks out over a strange marsh and an arid garden. There were also quite a few screaming kids around. At night, staff lock a lot of doors in the public areas, which is genuinely inconvenient. I also think bikes should probably be free. Honestly, I wouldn't actively recommend it at this price. It's not bad, but for me it feels expensive for what I'd consider a lower-end 5-star place.

The location is great, and the place itself is exceptional. Staff across the hotel provide incredible service. Dining was a lovely experience, and the barman knew a great deal about wines.

We had a few booking issues because it was two adults, one child, and one infant, while rooms were limited to three people. My wife had booked the break through British Airways as a birthday present for me, and the hotel sorted everything out when we arrived. The staff welcomed us warmly and stayed lovely throughout our visit. Even though we had the bottom room option, it was very spacious and felt luxurious. The bed was so comfortable, with a soft mattress and lovely duvets. Breakfast was a delight, and the staff made us feel welcome even with the children. At other luxury 5-star hotels we've felt judged, but not here. The grounds are perfect, with a path down to the lagoon and a play area for the kids. The pool was amazing too, with an adults' section and a warm one for children. I really recommend this place!
