Moxy Alfragide Lisboa

The hotel has a lot going for it: the design and atmosphere are great, it’s new and stylish, and I was able to check in early as a Bonvoy Gold member. But several service problems got in the way of an otherwise promising stay. My TV didn’t work at all, and even after I mentioned it more than once, nobody tried to fix it. Simple requests could take a long time too. Towels took over two hours one evening, and I had to ask several times for face towels. Housekeeping was inconsistent, so I ended up requesting a room cleaning myself. The welcome drink chips were also far more restricted than I expected, with only a narrow range of things available. Service at the bar and café was slow. I once waited nearly 20 minutes for tea, and saw other guests dealing with similar delays or orders that had been forgotten. I also found shattered glass in a shared area. That needed prompt attention and a notice to guests. Getting picked up was awkward as well, since nearly every Bolt or Uber driver was directed to a side location that wasn’t easy to find. At check-in, I was charged for the full stay instead of having the usual incidental hold, and no clear explanation was given. That’s unusual for Marriott properties and makes it harder to hold staff accountable for issues that come up during a stay. With better staffing and more consistent service, this could be an excellent Moxy location. The property has real potential, and I hope things improve before a future visit.

We’ve had five-star stays with the Moxy brand every time, and this Alfragide hotel was no exception, even though it had only been open for two months when we visited. The room was impeccable and the staff were amazing. I rated the location highly because it worked perfectly as a base for exploring in every direction. Without a car, it might be a little less appealing, but we found public transport into downtown easy to use. For us, Moxy remains the best value and the least hassle.

The gym and pool were a highlight for me, and the staff were kind enough to invite hotel guests to the one-week anniversary party. The hotel gets five out of five from me, with excellent staff. It’s outside the city center, but rates are lower than downtown hotels and Lisbon Uber rides are very affordable. I’d definitely return if I visit Portugal again.

A comfortable room with a decent amount of space for the price, plus a nice gym and pool. This newly opened Moxy has a great feel to it, and the staff are welcoming and very friendly.
