We found the rooms clean and the desk staff great. There's also a small gym with dumbbells, benches and a few machines, enough for anyone who can't skip a workout. The bed was hard, though, so be prepared. I'd suggest a garden-side room for its nice view of the park and hillside. The location works well for exploring the island's southern coast. It's a five-minute walk to a protected sandy beach and ten minutes to the cultural center. Overall, it was a bargain with a decent breakfast.

The location is good and the staff do try, but I was disappointed by the accommodation. Since this is an Azoris city hotel, I came with expectations based on other hotels in the group. The room was somewhat adequate apart from the bed, but the bathroom badly needs renovation. It's tiny and cramped, so whatever you use, you end up bumping into something. Soundproofing is poor throughout, and at night it feels like someone might drive in from the road. Unpleasant.

4/10
The location, staff and breakfast were all fine, but comfort depends on your neighbors. The rooms have no real soundproofing, so we could hear everything from next door, including music, crying babies and other noise going on in the evening and sometimes until 1 a.m. If you happen to avoid having small children next door, you might find it comfortable.

Everything worked out fine, with good food and excellent service. The hotel is right in the center, so you can't get much closer to the center than this. Be sure to visit the beautiful garden behind it.

The hotel has wonderful facilities, great food and incredible staff who were kind and very helpful. It's right in the city center, with a taxi stand next door. The only letdown was the shower head, which had poor pressure and uneven distribution.
