The host made us feel welcome, and the house was clean, practical and well equipped. We’d happily recommend it. The only small downside was some noise on the back terrace, which faces the road, but it didn’t bother us.

The house was very clean, but we couldn’t really enjoy the pretty terrace because of the noisy road running below it. The mattress was uncomfortable too, we sank into it. It’s in an industrial area without shops close by, though there is a bakery, thankfully.

We had a lovely time and wish the house and the business all the best. We travelled from England, and on the same day the hosts checked whether we were okay and had arrived safely in Portugal. That was a kind touch. They also answered our requests for more information quickly and thoughtfully. We have no complaints about the house, its cleanliness, the indoor or outdoor condition, or access. The garden was tidy and well cared for, and even the neighbors were friendly. We recommend it without hesitation. Thank you.

We found the hosts very welcoming and ready to answer questions. The place was spotless and smelled fresh, and the owner had left all the cleaning supplies we needed. The two terraces each have a table, chairs and a parasol. The front one is quiet, opens onto the garden and its swing, while the back one can get noisy during the day depending on traffic. The accommodation is at the end of a small dirt road with other local houses. There’s a bakery a short walk away for breakfast, around €5 for four people, and a restaurant nearby with affordable takeaway such as grilled chicken, pasta and fish. Barcelos center is a few minutes away and lively day and night; beaches are 15-20 minutes away. It’s a practical, clean place with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and an ADSL TV box with a large flat screen. I liked the USB charging hub, especially with lots of devices to charge. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with two showerheads, a spacious stylish sink and a window for ventilation. The decor is charming, with handcrafted pieces and a different character in each room. There are two separate bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds that can be separated if needed. The bedding is new, with plenty of pillows, and each room has a window with shutters and curtains so you can choose how dark you want it. They face the garden, so traffic didn’t disturb our sleep. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stovetop, microwave, fridge, freezer with ice packs and plenty more. There are Nespresso, Italian and French coffee makers, plus a temperature-control kettle. Overall, it’s well set up for a family with two children and a great vacation. I’ve stayed in many rentals in Barcelos, and this one is a hidden gem worth the trip. I highly recommend it.
