Vale d'Azenha

This restored former watermill is a lovely, peaceful place for a rural stay. It has eight bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and the whole house feels luxurious, welcoming, and in excellent condition. It’s a beautiful old property, rated three stars.

The house is charming and beautiful, with all the comforts, and the quiet countryside around it is lovely. We spent a group of friends’ celebration of friendship there, and every minute felt worthwhile. It’s a great fit for friends or a family break. Carla and Hêrnani were wonderful hosts, always available and so kind. I highly recommend staying here and exploring the Oeste too. There’s plenty to see, including Budhee Eden Park, Óbidos, Foz do Arelho, Lourinhã, Peniche, Baleal, Caldas da Rainha, S. Martinho do Porto, Picoto, and the small caves near the house.

We rented the whole house for a family weekend, and the outdoor space was fantastic for both adults and children. It’s just an hour from Lisbon, with attractions like Dino Parque and the caves nearby. The house itself has everything you need, and Hernâni and Carla are extremely friendly. We chose half board, so it was lovely to come back to dinner already prepared. The food was delicious.

The room with the jacuzzi looked just like the photos and was clean and cosy. The whole place is clean and welcoming, and the owner was fantastic and always available. Breakfast was really good too. A peaceful spot for a weekend or longer, and I’d recommend it to anyone. I hope to come back.
