We left instead of staying for dinner. We'd booked for nine at 20:15 or 20:30 and arrived at 20:15. The woman who greeted us was unpleasant. She checked the booking, said it was for 20:30, and told us to wait in the lobby. Although the restaurant was empty, we weren't allowed to sit at our table or have a drink while we waited. At 20:25, we asked again and were told we still couldn't go in because our reservation was at 20:30. The way she spoke to us was enough to make us leave. We've eaten at many restaurants and have never been addressed like that.

The spa was pleasant, and with so few guests around we got to relax in peace. The rest of the stay was disappointing. When the shower flooded, reception took over 20 minutes to come, and all they brought were two towels. The toilet was then affected too, leaving the room smelling of feces, so we had to change rooms. Nobody apologized or offered even a complimentary drink. The toilet has no closing door, so sounds and smells carry, and the shower and bathroom are separated from the room only by a flimsy curtain. That's a glaring design problem, even when staying with a partner. Dinner was underwhelming. The vegetarian dishes we tried were bland and felt ridiculously overpriced, 17 euros for a pile of couscous and sad vegetables. Breakfast was decent, but service felt uncomfortable: one staff member just stared at guests without greeting or offering help. Apart from the manager, the staff seemed to be high school trainees. They were sweet, but inexperienced and nervous about making decisions, which made each interaction awkward. This place is aiming for an artsy boutique hotel, but it needs better service and facilities to pull that off.

We'd booked for four, but on arrival were told the reservation covered just one person. We'd made it only half an hour earlier. The woman at the desk was nasty and said she wouldn't refund us. The owner replied that the booking center had shown a Sunday check-in for one, while we'd arrived Saturday with two adults and two children, when the property was full. They said they accommodated all four on Sunday in connecting rooms at an adjusted rate, noting we were regular customers, but couldn't meet our request for Saturday without a reservation. I appreciate the clarification that I came a day early to cancel a booking that didn't suit my family. So why charge me for a reservation I never used?
