A. Montesinho
About this property
A. Montesinho Turismo is an accommodation consisting of 6 different historic houses, some located in the center of Gimonde and others in the Quinta das Covas. The accommodations were fully renovated in a contemporary style but keeping the original character and atmosphere. Situated in the village of Gimonde, one of the gateways in the Natural Park of Montesinho, Group A. Montesinho is inserted in the region of Terra Fria Transmontana. And one of the prime regions of Portugal in terms of protected areas, where we highlight naturaleza and gastronomy.

The pool was closed, even though it was advertised online, and noise inside the property started at 8am, making it hard to sleep. In the evening there was nobody available to help or replace anything. The shower was dirty, didn’t work, and had no hot water. The towels were torn, stained, and had hair on them, and the cups still had toothpaste left by previous guests. AVOID, DIRTY!

We could set out on a hike in the hills from our apartment, though the swimming pool was still more than 1.5k away. The rooms are clean and luxery, and the staff are nice and supportive.

The bathroom smelled bad because the air extraction didn't work. Also, the air conditioning kept making noise even when it was turned off.

The restaurant was inflexible, with no vegetarian option and no willingness to make anything. That's a shame, because the hotel itself was really nice, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

A nice place in Gimonde and a very good base for getting to know Montesinho Natural Park and the Bragança region. I’ll come back as soon as I can.
