The location is handy for setting off to the hiking spots. Above Calheta, about a 15-minute drive away, there's a car park and a signpost for several beautiful levada trails. The beach is a 2-minute walk, with a beach bar, loungers, and a large children's playground. A big grocery store is 5 minutes on foot or 2 minutes by car. The promenade, small harbor, and around 10 restaurants with great food are a 5-minute walk away. Above the accommodation there's a cafe and a rum bar serving local rum, and opposite is the tourist information office. The house is clean, modern, and well equipped: two showers, two toilets, a hairdryer, dishwasher, towels, TV, and Wi-Fi. We weren't very keen on the higher pillows. Francisco, the owner, is a friendly and likeable man. Ask him where to put the rubbish. We recommend it!
