The peacocks and wildflowers made the grounds feel like their own little tropical world, and it was easy to feel tucked away from everything. The old apple farm sits in the hills above Funchal and has become a really unusual place to stay. The owners were easy to reach and offered homemade bread, wine, and cookies for a small extra cost. We had a wonderful time here. It seems suited to families, couples, or solo travelers.

Our three-room apartment had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a living room and a kitchen equipped with a sink, oven, fridge, microwave, stove, cutlery, and dishes. The apartments are spaced well apart, so there’s plenty of privacy, and the garden is beautiful. It felt like a little paradise. The host was lovely and easy to reach by WhatsApp or phone. There’s a bus stop right outside, so getting around without a car is possible. We had a rental car and could park for free in front of the holiday house. I’d recommend renting one, though, since it makes reaching the island’s more remote spots easier.

Sofia and Leonor made us feel very welcome, and we had a lovely holiday in these cottages. They were clean, neat, and had what we needed, including a small kitchen, comfortable beds, and a sunny place to have breakfast. The estate is beautiful, and Casas Valleparaizo is easy to reach from around the island, about a 15-minute drive from central Funchal.
