The hotel restaurant dinner was great, though it wasn’t included, and the staff were very friendly and went out of their way for us. The breakfast had a good variety, but unfortunately some of the food wasn’t high quality. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and little shops in the area, which makes it a good place to explore. The hotel bar closes quite early. Our superior room was in a separate building from reception, with a wonderful bay view, a large balcony, and a good shower. We could hear the ocean a little at night, which we liked, and otherwise it was very quiet. The fitness room is disappointing, tiny and down in the basement. The rooftop pool is unheated, so it was too cold when we visited at the end of the year. Is everything perfect? No. Would we return? Probably yes.

Breakfast was plentiful and very good, and housekeeping did an excellent, efficient job. We appreciated the complimentary champagne for a birthday. The beds were firm and comfortable, and the two singles pushed together worked fine. For the price, it was probably worth it, as long as you expect a strong European three-star hotel rather than the four stars advertised. The biggest problem was noise through the walls and floors. We could hear chairs being moved in the third-floor restaurant all the way down on the first floor, as well as noise from other rooms. The so-called sauna was more like a sauna booth, and only one of its eight heating elements worked. The pool was okay but unheated, and we had two mornings without hot water.

We loved the pool area, and the Rosé Sangria was honestly the best we’ve ever had. The hotel is right on the bay in Câmara de Lobos, with lots of lovely restaurants an easy walk away. Staff were really friendly, everything was spotlessly clean, and there was a great breakfast selection plus a good restaurant on site. We had two single beds pushed together, and the mattress felt a bit firm for us. A proper double or a topper would improve it. The promenade makes for a beautiful walk into Funchal. Fantastic stay, and we’d definitely come back.

We had a fabulous meal here for our Dad’s birthday, with amazing seafood dishes from the BBQ grill, steak, and more. The service from everyone was lovely, and the chefs did a great job. Thanks to Sara, the hotel manager, and all her team.

We’d known the pousada for a long time and love Camara de Lobos, but hadn’t had the chance to stay before. Spending a night at this beautiful place for our 25th wedding anniversary turned out to be a wonderful choice. The way we were looked after was just wonderful, and I can’t find the words to describe it. Many thanks for all the attention.
