Caminha Hostel & Suites

Right in the center of caminha, and everything was easy and uncomplicated. The room was clean and had all I needed, and the old lady was really lovely. It's a bit old, which is why I'm taking off a star, but it reminded me of my grandma's home, so I was totally fine with it.

The host lady was very nice, but the price we were told on the phone was 30€, and when we arrived it was 60. Maybe we misunderstood each other because of the language. The shower didn't have a door, which wasn't very satisfactory.

I loved the room, especially the wonderful open view from its window over all the rooftops and far into the distance. The bathroom was small but brand new and worked well, with another lovely window and an unobstructed view. The building is old and we had to climb two flights of stairs, but I was happy with the simple room. The location is excellent. I was walking the Caminho de Santiago and stayed just one night, on a summer Saturday. The town was lively until very late, and with the windows open I could hear people singing in the street. Closing them made it quiet. The host, if I'm remembering right, was D. Maria, and she was very dear. Caminha seems like a nice place for a weekend too.

A central spot that was still pleasantly quiet, though you can hear street musicians. The simple rooms were perfectly adequate, and it made a wonderful place to pause and rest during the pilgrimage.
