Horta do Muro

I can’t recommend the place because the stay wasn’t good. The photos make it look better than it is, and the worst part was the mattresses. They’re very old spring mattresses, and I woke up with body aches and couldn’t sleep. The sheets and towels were clean, but there were spiders and webs behind the wardrobe, and the door frames need maintenance. The bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way. There was no TV in the room, and Wi-Fi was absent, with the mobile signal very weak. The access road is in poor condition.

The place felt neglected both inside and out. The rooms were cold and stuffy, with a musty smell when we arrived, and the furniture was very old and uncomfortable. The air conditioning was too noisy to leave on overnight. Maybe it was the room’s location, but we couldn’t shower because the hot water didn’t reach the bathroom. No TV or Wi-Fi.

It was a terrible experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it or stay again. The property was neglected, the outdoor area was in very poor shape, the house was cold, and the air conditioning was weak for the space. There was so little shower gel that it wasn’t enough to wash our hands. Getting there was difficult too, with about 1 km of rough dirt road. We came by motorcycle, and I really wouldn’t advise doing that. There was no Wi-Fi or mobile signal, just a weak Spanish network. We arrived late and couldn’t be contacted, and had no way to look up a taxi number or any information, with no water or food supplies. The owner was difficult to reach.

I stayed in August, and there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, just in the common areas, which weren’t exactly next door. The rooms were old and the bed was uncomfortable. The owners said they’d put cushions by the pool, but they never did. There wasn’t a TV when we arrived, so we had to ask for one. We didn’t feel very welcome.
