Fonte do Mar I by Our Madeira

The view from the house was fantastic, and Our Madeira were excellent to deal with. They communicated well, responded quickly, and were friendly throughout. This review is about the house itself, though, and we wouldn't book it again. We stayed for 10 days and found a lot of maintenance had been neglected. Wallpaper was coming away in several places, some doors had holes drilled through them, and there was mold above the bedroom windows. The bathrooms felt past their best. The pool's drainage and pump setup was very loud, leaving a constant hum on the terrace and in the main bedroom. A funnel installation might help with that. The dishwasher wasn't cleaning properly either, and some kitchen items were damaged: the spatula had melted, the only salad bowl was badly chipped, and the salad spinner was broken. We contacted the managers on day one, and they tried to sort things out quickly, including repairing a broken bedroom window. Still, the price didn't feel justified by the condition, and we got the impression the owner was focused on making money rather than upkeep. Photos don't always show what a place is really like, and Madeira has other stays with better value.
