Hotel Casa do Tua

From nearby trails you can climb into the upper wine country and look over the Tua river valley. The train also takes you to other river towns for a few euros. The owners have a wonderful place, with a large breakfast room and a spotless pool just above the river, surrounded by lemon and orange trees and multicolored roses. Our separate apartment was clean, comfortable, and quiet apart from the birdsong. Highly recommended.

We spent time on the pool deck with wine, taking in the amazing view, and had a spectacular breakfast on the patio overlooking the river. The restaurant next door served us a great dinner. Our room had a wonderful view and was more than adequate. I came across the hotel on Google Maps while looking for somewhere to stay as we explored Douro, and it turned out to be a gem in one of the most scenic parts of Portugal we’ve visited. I’d book here again if I’m back in the area. I’ve also booked a room for my daughter, who’s still travelling nearby.

We had a great night’s sleep in a quiet, air-conditioned room, and the pool has a lovely river view. There are two good-value restaurants right next door. We absolutely loved this family-run hotel in Douro Valley 🤩 and highly recommend it. We suggest booking directly with the hotel instead of through brokers.

We spent a lovely evening watching the stars from the terrace with a bottle of wine and a view of the river. The hotel is perfectly placed on the banks of the duaro River, and we really enjoyed the hospitality, food, and accommodations. I’d highly recommend it if you want to get away from the bustle of the bigger towns.
