Monte Dourado do Sol

My three-year-old came home with an infection from the pool and a rash from the poorly maintained property. We later learned that our apartment had also been sprayed because of a known, ongoing cockroach infestation.

The apartments are spacious, the staff are very nice, and some have stunning views. There are pleasant, low-key pools to hang around and swim in. Downtown is about a five-minute walk away, with the beach another ten minutes on foot. I gave service four stars because the units didn’t come with what you might expect as basics. There was no dish soap, dishcloth or scrubber, paper towel, laundry soap, cooking oil, salt, pepper, coffee, coffee filters, shampoo or body wash.

We own apartment 27 at Monte Dourado, where we’ve put in silent-running air conditioning throughout, three new bathrooms and a new open-plan kitchen. It has three double bedrooms. All the apartments there are privately owned, and most owners have spent a lot on updates over the past few years.

The apartments have everything you might need, and more, with gorgeous pool areas. It’s a beautiful village and a perfect place for families. The property sits at the top of a hill, but there are plenty of taxis if walking far is difficult. Highly recommended!
