The accommodation itself looked as pictured, and the location was good, but the check-in stress derailed my whole day. I wouldn’t stay again because it wasn’t worth the hassle. I worried I’d been scammed: there were three phone numbers, two didn’t work, and nobody answered the third for over an hour. During the first hour after the posted 2 pm check-in time, I called and texted repeatedly and got no reply. I was panicking that I’d have to find another hotel at the last minute. When the owner finally responded, he said he had prayer time from 2-3 pm. It’s unacceptable to schedule that across the first hour of check-in and not answer guests who are expected to arrive then. I also never got the access instructions a day ahead, as many places provide. A week earlier I’d messaged to ask about arriving early and got no response to that either.

The guesthouse feels cozy and private, though it’s only a two-minute walk from the beach. The views of the ocean and surrounding landscape are stunning. My husband and I stayed here recently, and it really exceeded my expectations. It’s clean and thoughtfully decorated, with a welcoming, home-like feel. Having morning coffee on the terrace or watching the sunset in the evening makes the setting feel especially lovely.

The service was very disappointing. The host was unpleasant to deal with and, as I saw in his replies to other negative reviews, keeps blaming guests instead of addressing the problems. It’s advertised as a guest house, but it’s actually a room in an apartment. The entry instructions were confusing and wrong. The shower was terrible: water could only run for a minute at a time before overflowing, probably because of a blockage or because the shower head was three feet off the floor. Not a good stay.

The host’s rude, dismissive attitude made an already bad stay much worse. The bathroom was filthy, and there was no soap, only watered-down sanitizer. The showerhead was barely 3ft high, with no lip, and the shower didn’t drain, so water flooded the floor. Despite video proof of the drainage problem and complaints from other guests, the host accused us of “trashing” the bathroom. The beds were uncomfortable, with broken slats, and noise from the bar below made it hard to sleep. I’ve updated my review because other guests on booking.com have reported similar problems with the bathroom and shower. I also added a screenshot of my conversation with the host. I tried to explain that the shower wasn’t draining properly, but they just blamed me. I know how to use a shower, I’ve been using them for 30 years now 😂. Avoid this place if you value your sanity.

The room had everything I needed for remote work, especially reliable Wi-Fi, and it was clean and quiet. I was in Cascais on a short business trip and was surprised by how easily this guesthouse worked for both getting things done and relaxing. The hosts were warm and attentive, with helpful local tips, and the views were lovely with the beach just a short walk away. Thanks, I’d love to come back! 🙏🏻
