My mother booked a few days with this man for April 2020, during my brother’s football tournament there, and paid part of the cost in advance. That was a big mistake. When the pandemic meant we couldn’t travel between municipalities, we got in touch and moved the stay to the weekend of October 5. A few weeks before then, my mother tried to contact him. He replied only a few days before the date, saying there was an electrical problem and the house had no power, and that he would try to fix it. A few days later he called to say he hadn’t managed to, and promised to return the amount already paid, asking for the bank details for the transfer. We have messages confirming this. Since then, he hasn’t replied to messages or answered the phone, and he hasn’t transferred the money as promised.

We’d asked for fewer days because no more were available, and planned to use a long weekend. But nobody had discussed returning the money until the electricity problem came up. The gentleman said the stay would have to be postponed, and he was also the one who said he’d refund the amount paid. That never happened. On October 1, we messaged: “Could you tell me if the €140 can be refunded, or do I need to arrange other dates?” He replied, “Send me your bank details and I’ll refund you during the week.” We contacted him again on October 12 because he hadn’t made the transfer as agreed. He said, “Good morning, I haven’t had a chance to do it yet. I’ll do it as soon as possible.” Since then, despite several messages and attempts to reach him, we’ve had no reply and no refund.

Luis was available and ready to help, which added to a lovely stay. Casa da Muralha is small, but thoughtfully put together with everything needed for a wonderful romantic break. It’s a perfect spot to switch off and reconnect with yourself. Castelo da Vide is beautiful; be sure to see Marvão and spectacular Castelo Novo, and Évora too if you’re feeling adventurous. Highly recommended :)

The owners are 5*, and the house sits in a quiet corner of the village with impressive views. It’s a great place to spend a few days in beautiful Castelo de Vide and explore the area, where there’s plenty to see.
