The floor, doors, and beds all squeaked.

For a place to stop overnight before carrying on with a journey, this hotel works well and isn't expensive. It's on the route, about 3 km from the Chaves shopping center. The rooms are roomy and have a balcony with a table and chairs. Breakfast is decent for a 2-star hotel.

There’s no elevator, but it’s only one flight of stairs. The owners can come across as a little serious sometimes. Still, the price is good for what you get, and I’d recommend it. Breakfast is served at your table, with generous portions, and it’s delicious. The place was very clean, and the rooms were spacious and looked like the photos. By car, it’s around 8 minutes to the center of Chaves. They don’t serve lunch or dinner, but Cruceiro is only a 3-minute walk away. That’s why I’m giving it the highest rating.

The hotel has a very good physical setup, with large, clean rooms and bathrooms. What I missed was warmth and friendliness from the owners. Hospitality should mean enjoying having guests. As I was leaving, I thanked them for accepting my dog, and they told me that next time they would charge 10€ for the dog’s stay. I found that an unfortunate and unpleasant thing to say, and it left me stunned. I’d gladly have paid if they had charged me at checkout, because being with my pet is priceless. For the record, the hotel website doesn’t mention a fee for an animal’s stay.
