Casa de São Bento by PURUS

The manager and staff were consistently ready to help, and their service really stood out. They arranged a switch to the more convenient Casa São Bento after we’d first booked a different one of the several hotels they operate, prepared receipts in the format my company needed, and opened breakfast an hour early for our departure. They also worked around our other needs with care. Everything else was excellent too, and all those details made the stay exceptional.

My room had a private patio, which was a nice extra. Inside, the decor was lovely, and it was very clean. There was also a kitchenette with a mini fridge and microwave, and breakfast was good. The place is close to the university, the “new” cathedral, and the British building.

After a bad stay somewhere else, we booked here at the last minute and could finally relax. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was straightforward. The room was cozy for four, if a little small, and we all slept well in the comfortable beds.

We stayed for one night in May and found a leak coming through the ceiling. The staff must have seen it, but nothing was done until we asked to move rooms. There was mold on the walls in several places too. This place may once have been nice, but it’s clearly aged. I wouldn’t recommend it.
