Pharmacia Guest House

Juan was a charming, informative host, and the location worked perfectly for exploring on foot. The Pharmacia Guest House is on a pedestrian street, across from a wine-bar. Our room shutters had a subtle layer of noise-deadening foam, which helped keep things quiet at night. The rooftop was a lovely place to have morning coffee while swallows swooped over Coimbra.

Juan at the front desk pointed us to a fantastic little local restaurant nearby, A Cozinha da Maria. The rooms were cozy, and the place is surrounded by Coimbra's history, shops, and cafes. Getting luggage here by Uber or taxi can be a bit awkward: for us, there was a walk and a stairway between the drop-off and the building. The seven of us managed it, though.

The lobby is an old pharmacy, which makes for a unique stay. The rooms were good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Conveniently located in the heart of the area.

Our room, room Jasmin, was spacious and had a very cute balcony. The doors have soundproofing sponges, so we didn't have to worry about nighttime noise. It's a charming, beautiful hotel that used to be a pharmacy, and the location makes it easy to walk to all the tourist attractions. Cars can't drive down this street, so you'll need to walk a little from the main road.
