Sapientia Boutique Hotel

The hotel’s location is great, but the afternoon receptionist wasn’t much help with most things when we checked in. Accessibility was a zero for us. We had to climb two flights with our luggage at checkout, and in our loft room you had to climb onto a couch just to almost reach the windows. The air conditioning didn’t work.

I liked the clean room and the cozy feel of this little boutique hotel, which also has a small restaurant. The problem was breakfast. I requested gluten-free food when I booked, three days ahead, and reminded them again at check-in. They only had a couple of breads, then told me the gluten-free options had run out. That’s not good when you’ve given them notice, and it’s the reason I rated the place three stars.

The restaurant dinner was great, especially the fries, and the hotel has a lovely view. Its location in Coimbra is amazing. The rooms were just fine. Parking can be difficult unless you get lucky and find a spot right in front. Still, it was a great place to stay.

The food was excellent, though breakfast could have had more vegetables. We especially enjoyed dinner, which Joel served; he was kind, funny, and incredibly helpful, and the meal was delicious. The staff in general were courteous and exceptionally helpful. The location is excellent for anyone interested in the university area. Keep in mind parking is limited to five free spaces. Highly recommended!
