Vila Gale Casas D'Elvas Historic Hotel

Mariana’s friendly smile and attentive manner made us feel at home, not just like guests. The Casas de Elvas themselves have complete kitchens, so you can enjoy breakfast on the veranda or dinner in the gardens at your own pace, without set times. The gardens are green and full of flowers all year, and the panoramic pool hangs above the walls with a view across Elvas, from the castle to the Alentejo horizon. It’s a beautiful setting. When you want more, you can cross the garden to use the Hotel Vila Galé Collection Elvas facilities, including the spa, indoor pool, gym, and restaurants at no extra cost. Casas de Elvas is a little paradise overlooking the city. It’s the kind of place you want to stay at, and return to.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and staying inside the walls made it handy for exploring the old city. Finding parking can be tough during the busier hours of the day, and the cobbled streets can make handling luggage difficult. The place itself is very welcoming.

We really liked the different concept, and the rooftop pool was good. The rooms are huge, with friendly service and good cleaning. The restaurant staff were kind, and the pizzas were excellent. Elvas is a great city for a short break or a stop when travelling from other countries. We only managed to visit two museums, but the Archaeology Museum was exceptional and interactive, and we also saw the Modern Art Museum. It’s a good way for children to learn about the country’s past. There are more museums, and we’ll see them tomorrow. Thanks!

It’s laid out like a small village, with the rooms along different little streets, and it’s very comfortable. The staff were really friendly, and the room was good quality. With an outdoor pool, it must be especially nice in summer. An excellent place to stay.
