Beach House Outeirinho

The staff made O House feel like a small boutique hotel, with really attentive service. Keathley arranged surf lessons for us at the last minute, and I’d recommend them even if you’re a first-timer. The owner, Cliff, was friendly and helpful, and the team had plenty of suggestions for food and activities. They speak Spanish, English, and Portuguese, which made things easier for us. The rooms are clean, bright, and modern, each with its own tasteful theme. Ours was cute, with a balcony, lots of natural light, and dark curtains for sleeping. There’s a separate casita that looks larger, while the other rooms are in the main building. The AC was powerful and easy to adjust, so I stayed comfortable at night. Breakfast is served daily from 8-10A in the open dining area. There were pastries, coffee, juice, meats, cheeses, yogurt, eggs, and fruit. Hot and cold water, coffee, and tea were available all day. The shared spaces are lovely, with a large foyer and lots of seating, plus an outdoor patio that’s great for wine and would work well for a big group. There’s also a pool, a ping pong table for socializing, pool and beach towels, and a parking lot just outside the gate. When we arrived, Joel suggested good places for coffee, cocktails, and watching the sunset. We left our bags with him and took a relaxed walk into the main part of town, about 40 minutes. The Uber back took 8 minutes, and it was easy to get a car. O House really made our trip to Ericeira better, whether you’re traveling alone, with a friend, or with a group looking for places to hang out together.

We stayed at OHouse on September 22, 2025, and have already decided we’re coming back. From the moment we walked in, it felt welcoming and relaxing. The staff were wonderful, and we also met the owner, Cliff, who was warm and accommodating. The rooms all have King-size beds, which I really appreciated. Ours was spacious, with room for the large bed, a dresser, and a sofa, plus a balcony off the bedroom. The sheets were soft, the bed comfortable, and each room has its own mini-split AC unit. We didn’t need ours, but I imagine it works well in summer. I’m very particular about cleanliness, and the property met my highest standards. My white socks stayed white on the floors, the grout was clean, and there was no dust in the corners. The pool was a lovely place to sit in the sun, though I got a little sunburned because I forgot sunscreen. There’s no lift, which could be a downside for some, though it wasn’t a problem for us. They do have one or two ground-floor rooms for anyone with mobility issues, so be sure to ask.

We booked the whole family-run hotel for a birthday gathering, with guests ranging from 7 months to 75 years old, and everyone had a wonderful time. O House’s shared spaces gave our group several places to get together. Cliff, the co-owner, went out of his way to help us plan things to see and do. He gave great suggestions for sightseeing, yoga, surfing, biking, and craft experiences, and organized drivers and local restaurant reservations so we could just choose where to go. My personal favorite was our ceramics day, visiting several ceramics and glass studios and shops, including a café, wine bar, and tattoo parlor. Cliff also knows the best sunset bars, shopping spots, and restaurants in Ericeira, and helped us with reservations. Ericeira is a lovely little seaside town, with amazing food, great beaches for surfing or just relaxing, and lots of places to shop for souvenirs.

Cliff and the team took care of every little detail, so we never had to think about setting things up. Everything was ready for whatever we wanted to do, and we loved the grounds and each of the individual rooms. We miss the lovely breakfasts and Ericeira’s beautiful sunsets, and getting into town was easy. Our group had adults and young children, and everyone was well looked after. They especially accommodated my 5-year-old’s early wake-ups, which we parents often slept through. My 2-year-old had lots of safe fun inside the property boundary. This is a short review, but I’m full of gratitude!
