Palacio Estoril Hotel, Golf & Wellness

The service has an old-school professionalism that comes from experience, and the hotel has the feel of a refined, cool older aunt. Its interiors match the era it was built in, while the connected Banyan Tree Spa offers a more minimalist contrast. We visited in February, so the garden and pool were closed, for good reason. I imagine the place comes alive again when spring arrives.

We were at the Palacio Estoril for a wedding held elsewhere. The clean, spacious rooms worked well for us: we had a king room, and my daughter and her fiancé, the couple getting married, had a very nice suite. The staff were accommodating and clearly enjoy their work. Breakfast was included, with a buffet offering just about anything; even though I'm not much of a breakfast person, I ate there four of our six mornings. Room service was the main drawback. My daughter ordered drinks and food while getting ready with her bridesmaids, but the order didn't arrive, and staff couldn't find it when she called. The kitchen rushed it through, and the food did arrive. We didn't try the spa, though I understand it's very good. On our last night, we ate at the Four Seasons Grill, and the chateubriand was excellent. We enjoyed the trip, and the hotel added to a great vacation. Highly recommended.

This was a fabulous yoga retreat, with plenty of good food, cocktails, and time to relax. Bruno and the rest of the team were attentive and eager to help whenever we asked for anything. Thanks to everyone for making our trip so lovely. Kerry & Yvonne.

We came back for a second visit and will definitely return. The location is good, the breakfast buffet is great, and the hotel is well maintained with an old-world charm. The outdoor pool is large and never feels crowded, with plenty of sun loungers, umbrellas, and towels. All the staff are friendly and helpful. I didn't use the golf club or spa myself, but other family members who did had good things to say.
