The family atmosphere may suit some people, but during our stay around 95% of the guests seemed to be couples with children, so it wasn't a quiet, adult-focused place. After ten days there, I'd rate the hotel 3.5 out of 5, and don't think it's worth the €90 a night we paid. We chose it partly because of the gym, but it cost €5 per use, which felt unreasonable, and it wasn't well maintained or particularly clean. The laundry service was also overpriced for the quality. As food lovers, we had looked forward to breakfast and dining, but that was a major letdown. I'd give the food just 2 out of 5. The rooms weren't cleaned thoroughly while we were there, and the pool area was disappointing too: the loungers and side tables were often dirty, and the chairs were extremely uncomfortable. My boyfriend was doing a skydiving course while I worked remotely from the hotel, so I spent most of my time there and got a thorough sense of the place. It has potential, but with these issues at this price, I wouldn't recommend it.

Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The location is somewhere between good and bad, but you'll need a car to reach the medieval town. Many rooms overlook what they call a quiet road, though it's actually one of the main roads into Évora.

The room for three was extremely cramped and shouldn't be offered for that many people. They charge for everything, including $5 euros to use the gym. You also have to wear a swimming cap for the indoor pool, and the water is very cold.

The pool area was great, with plenty of shade, which was a must for us with a baby. The staff were diligent, and the food was great too. Our room was cosy and very clean. There were a couple of small cosmetic maintenance issues, like chips in the wall and an old, noisy automatic entrance door, but nothing that really stood out. Great hotel.

We ended up in Evora while looking for somewhere else to spend a night in Portugal, and this hotel was such a find that we added another night. It’s just beyond the medieval walls, and the staff were warm and helpful with tips on where to go around town. We visited in the off-season, so the outdoor pool was freezing and the pool bar was closed. I can imagine it being a great spot in summer, and I’d like to come back when it’s warmer.
