Imani Country House

The valley view over Évora is spectacular, and you can wander the grounds on short hikes or relax by either of the two pools. Our room was comfortable, and the place has a very design-forward feel. Getting there means about 3 km on a dirt road, but it’s worth it. There are only seven rooms, the service was first-rate, and both dinner at the hotel restaurant and the breakfast we ordered the night before were very good. We were touring Portugal north of Lisbon, though I suppose Évora isn’t technically north of Lisbon. This was our first stop, and what an incredible place. Highly, highly recommended.

The two pools and cozy outdoor space have lovely views, and the property feels surprisingly private and spacious despite having just seven rooms. We barely saw the other guests. We came to Portugal for the first time looking for somewhere special and found this quiet hideaway among orange trees at the end of a dirt road. It feels more like a personal retreat than a hotel. We stayed two nights and could easily have stayed longer. The food, service, atmosphere, and facilities all made us feel comfortable and at home. A heartfelt thanks to Vera and Antonio, who have been there for years and took such kind care of us. We’ll absolutely be back.

The views, orange trees, food, and staff made this feel truly magical. Probably the best place we’ve ever stayed. If you’re unsure, just book it. Absolutely incredible.

The restaurant dinners were fantastic and definitely worth trying. We were lucky enough to be there while the oranges were blooming, and the scent was wonderful. They even offered us oranges to pick and taste, and they were the best we’ve ever had. We spent three unforgettable days at Imani Country House, though it wasn’t enough to take in everything the place has to offer. The rooms, restaurant, service, and all the other details made the stay wonderful. My inner aesthete was delighted, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.
