Residencial Dandy

The room was windowless and mouldy, on the ground floor, but it felt more like a basement or laundry room, as the photos show. Staff seemed in a bad mood and complained that I'd booked just one night. I wondered if that's why I got the worst room. The boarding house is old and shabby, spread across two houses with lots of passageways, stairs and worn carpet. There was clutter and kitschy stuff everywhere. Overall, very dirty and messy, and badly in need of renovation. I wouldn't recommend it.

Everything was clean, and the room felt cosy, with a large, comfortable bed and a basic toilet. The location in Faro is perfect, with everywhere in walking distance. Honestly, I'd recommend staying here.

I stayed one night before an early flight from Faro. The guesthouse isn't a four-star hotel, but the hospitality deserves four stars. The woman who runs it was a great help: she got in touch with the people in room 21, a young German couple she knew were leaving around the same time. They had a car and offered me a ride. Both the couple and the owner were lovely, so I was happy.

The view from the window looked just like a page from a Portugal tourist brochure. It's a comfortable, nice place in Faro, close to the centre, with free parking. Don't expect luxury, but the price is fair, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an honest rate.
