Hotel Santa Isabel

The breakfast was amazing, and they served plenty. The rooms were clean, the location was good, the front desk staff were super nice, and there’s a nice balcony on the fourth floor with a view of the city. The city center gets loud in the morning, especially with the church bell, so it’s better to get to sleep early. The cleaning staff were very noisy in the morning too, and I couldn’t sleep in. Despite those issues, it’s a good hotel.

It’s a short walk to the Basilica, with shops and restaurants all around. There’s an elevator, and some rooms have disability amenities. The double beds are actually North American king size. Parking isn’t available, which is typical for Portuguese hotels, so we parked on side streets. Breakfast costs extra, but it was well worth the price. It’s a basic hotel, though the service, cleanliness, and room functionality were better than we expected.

Our room was small, but very clean and good value. The towels were nice and soft, without the stiffness or odd smell I’ve found on hotel towels elsewhere. Breakfast was €5 extra per person per day and worth it. All the staff were friendly and helpful, with top-notch customer service.

It’s a simple, new, quiet hotel, not a luxury place, with lovely, supportive staff and great communication. They replied quickly to our emails and gave us advice. We arrived at 10 pm and check-in was easy. There’s parking nearby, a great restaurant and bar just downstairs, and Fatima’s main place is within walking distance. The price was great value, and we’ll surely come back. We appreciated the stay. Breakfast should include eggs.
