Manuel and Maria, who own Pátio das Flores, really embody the welcoming, homely feel of an AirBNB. The house is delightful, full of details, and you can feel its 200 years of history. There are lots of corners to enjoy, though oddly it’s the broad corridor that stays with me most. It takes me back to childhood, when houses used space less efficiently and had corridors wide enough to skate in. Ferreira do Alentejo is a friendly, easygoing place. Many Portuguese travellers pass through on north-south or south-north journeys, but I think it’s well worth a visit.

A warm room, a terrace with a view, all the facilities we needed, and an orange tree made for a lovely stay. The host was very welcoming. Thank you, we’ll come again.

The people were warm and friendly, and we almost felt at home. We had a nice evening there with the family. The garden has a few trees, large enough to provide welcome shade. It’s an old house with old furniture and a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere in the traditional Alentejo style. A grand solid wood door opens into the interior. This isn’t a hotel, but guests can enjoy a real taste of the Alentejo inside.

I really liked the old house and its rooms. The courtyard is lovely, but could be better arranged and made more of. There’s no TV in the rooms, and the Wi-Fi needs to be better.

I went to visit friends who were staying there and loved the place. The houses are beautiful, the decor is spectacular, and everyone was extremely kind. Five stars from me.
