Herdade Da Ordem

Herdade Da Ordem came recommended by friends, and it absolutely lived up to it. We’d only been to Portugal once before, in Lisbon, so it was a treat to see another part of this beautiful country. The setting is lovely, the accommodation is comfortable, breakfast is delicious, and Joana and Giovanni looked after us so well. We’ll be back.

The room was spotless and the bed was really comfortable. There’s plenty of variety at breakfast, all made with local products, which I really appreciated. Joana was attentive from the booking onward and kept checking that we were comfortable. We also had pizza night, and Giovani made delicious pizzas. The tiramisu was so good I can’t even describe it. A great place for a city break if you enjoy nature and being around animals. Thanks to Joana and Giovanni for being such lovely hosts. I’d happily come back!

Our four-year-old daughter loved feeding the farm animals, and we could have happily stayed longer than a week in such a relaxing spot. The rooms are huge and beautiful, the beds incredibly comfortable, and everything was spotless and top notch for the price. Joana and Giovanni are wonderful hosts who are happy to help with anything, and Giovanni is a fantastic cook. Breakfast was great, and lunches or dinners can be arranged on request.

The hosts’ experience working for a large hotel chain really shows in how well they look after guests. Joana and Giovanni are incredibly welcoming, and nothing seems to be a problem. We loved the peaceful countryside, clear night skies and beautiful rooms. The food is locally sourced, from garden oranges and eggs from their roaming hens to grandma’s homemade jam. The local wine was lovely on the terrace under the stars. It feels like a little bit of heaven, and we can’t wait to return.
