Monte dos Aroeirais

My family and I loved staying here. The host was so welcoming, warm and genuinely humble, and you could tell she’d put care into every detail. Everything was wonderfully clean, which mattered a lot to us. We’d absolutely come back!

The rooms have friendly, traditional country-house furniture that’s in good condition, plus good Wi-Fi and a luxurious hot shower with strong water pressure. Breakfast was great, and the owner was so kind, warm and knowledgeable. We had everything we needed at this peaceful country retreat, with excellent facilities for relaxing and a huge lounge decorated in traditional Alentejo style, perfect for gathering around the fireplace. You’ll want a car to visit nearby towns like Elvas and Estremoz, or even pop over to Spain. Back at the monte, all you hear are the birds. We’ll return as soon as we can.

A lovely place to experience a traditional old Monte Alentejano. The building has been beautifully restored, keeping its original character while adding modern comforts. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with air conditioning, a TV and a minibar. There’s a small, pleasant pool that’s just right for cooling off and sunbathing on the loungers, and the parking has some shade. It’s secluded, but still very close to Fronteira.

We stayed just one night, and it was a really pleasant spot for a restful weekend. Fronteira itself doesn’t have much to do, but Estaremoz is nearby. The woman who lives there welcomed us and our little dog with such warmth and attention. The place is quiet and pleasant, and the lit fireplace in the shared lounge makes you want to linger over wine and conversation. Our room was large, with a sitting room and kitchen. Some of the furniture and dishes in the bathroom and kitchen could do with replacing, though we still found it cosy. Breakfast has plenty of options for different tastes.
