The apartment didn’t seem very clean, and two hours after checking in we spotted the first cockroach in the kitchen. Some things, including the doors and shower heads, were damaged too. Filthy. Book somewhere else if you can.

There are 21 floors and three elevators, plus a pool, underground parking, and a restaurant on floor 0. Many apartments have a sea view, and Praia da Roche is just a few minutes away on foot. The building is lovely and clean, with a cleaner there every day. There’s also plenty of free parking around and outside the building.

The balcony view was stunning, and we had our anniversary dinner at the ground-floor restaurant, which was very good. Helena and her husband were incredibly kind and made our two-night stay in June unforgettable. We booked the apartment for our anniversary, and it was huge, modern, clean, comfortable, and had every amenity we could need. Would recommend it 100%!! 😍

The location works really well for the beach, and it’s an easy walk to the main strip for bars and restaurants. The pool was clean and a decent size, and the building is close to the beach. If your apartment is good, those positives can make it easy to overlook the rough surroundings, unless that sort of thing matters a lot to you. This is about the building overall, not the apartment we stayed in. It’s an apartment block that has lost a lot of its shine, and I felt a bit disheartened when we were driven up to it. The front doors look old, the entry keypad is worn, and often the door didn’t shut or lock properly. Inside, there’s some very old furniture in the foyer and three lifts that can be slow. The stairwell is bare stone painted black, and the lift landings are also all black, with very old, dated cupboards for the electrical boards. There was confusion about whether you have to pay for the pool deck chairs. After an hour, a young girl came over asking for money, but she didn’t speak English, so we had no idea what it was about. We assumed visitors had to pay and residents didn’t, as charging residents wouldn’t make sense. Rubbish piled up in some parking areas. It was collected, but built up again very quickly.
