Apartamentos da Carreira

I didn't meet the host, but communication through the booking site was fine. They didn't seem very keen to accommodate requests, though. I arrived early and asked about checking in sooner, and later asked if I could check out at 1 or 2 pm. The apartment was vacant, but they said the cleaning crew would only come at 4 pm, and I got no response or approval for a later checkout. You can leave your bags there, but customer service didn't feel like a priority, especially given what I paid. The apartment itself was clean, comfortable and decent, right in the heart of Funchal, with easy self check-in. They left basic kitchen supplies and coffee, which was handy for meals at home. There’s no air conditioning, which was fine in May but might be less comfortable in peak summer. The unit has a washing machine, but no dryer, and they did provide detergent pods. In apartment 3, the shower head has no holder, so you have to turn the water off and on if you need to put it down to reach for shampoo or soap.
