We had a top-floor apartment with a lovely deck, where we enjoyed sitting out in the evening and soaking up the old town atmosphere. It was fairly well equipped with what we needed, and the hosts were very responsive. There are three fairly long flights of stairs to reach the top, so keep that in mind if mobility is an issue. We didn’t mind, and the deck made it well worth it. There’s some background noise from people around the old town shops and restaurants, but it dies down around 10 pm. The doors and windows block almost all of it. As of Nov 2024, construction across the street was going on during the day, though the noise wasn’t excessive and stopped by 5 pm. It made a great base for exploring the city. Many thanks to the hosts.

The top-floor apartment had a lovely balcony, and both Liliana and Alexandra took great care of us. We had an amazing stay on a creative, artistic street where the painted doors are a must-see. The location is so central that everything is right nearby. WiFi was excellent, and the kitchen had everything needed to cook a meal. Definitely worth staying here if you’re visiting Madeira and want to be in central Funchal.

We loved this little apartment. It’s modern, well equipped, and very central, about a five-minute walk from both the central market and the cable car. The host was easy to reach, gave us great recommendations, and spoke fantastic English. There are lovely restaurants on the street, so it can get a little noisy at night. If that bothers you, this might not be the right place. We were happy here.
