The owners were perfect, and so was the place. What a spot.

Angelo lives right behind the house and was on hand whenever we needed anything. The little touches were lovely too: a tasty welcome cake in the fridge, a bottle of their wine on the table, and bananas waiting outside one afternoon when we got back. Everything was spotless and neatly arranged when we arrived, and the house itself is amazing. It’s well organized and has all sorts of cleaning supplies, plus a coffee maker and kettle. We spent our second week here, and I fell in love with the place. I’d recommend it to anyone.

We picked up the keys without any trouble, even though we arrived very late, and the hosts were incredibly friendly throughout. The whole place was spotless. They’d left fruit, bread, cake, homemade wine, and cheese and jam in the fridge for us. The apartment is quiet and on the outskirts of Funchal, with a large shopping center and gas station a three-minute walk away. There’s also a self-service car wash a little farther on. Wi-Fi worked well on both floors. The main drawbacks were the hot water, which sometimes took a while to come through, and the lack of private parking. The street is narrow, so we parked in front of the nearby supermarket. With the warm weather, waiting for hot water or having a cold wash wasn’t a big problem for us. The apartment is spacious and split across two levels. Downstairs there’s a living room, kitchenette, bathroom, and utility room; upstairs are two bedrooms and another bathroom. The bedrooms have large double beds, roomy wardrobes, and private terraces. Downstairs the living room has a sofa bed and TV. The hosts were happy for one of us to sleep there and supplied extra bedding at no charge. Both bathrooms have a toilet and shower. In the same building, next to the living area, there’s a big laundry room and a separate, fully equipped kitchenette with a barbecue, dishes, coal, and firelighter. The main kitchenette also has everything we needed, including a coffee maker, microwave, oven, fridge, wine glasses, and other accessories. The building is separate and private, shaded by grapevines and a banana orchard, where guests can pick as many bananas as they like. The hosts live next door. This was probably the best place I’ve ever stayed. If I come back to Madeira, I’d definitely stay here again.

Angelo made us feel very welcome and was attentive and easy to reach. The place was super comfortable and equipped with everything. Everything was perfect!
