Funchal Design Hotel

The hotel is small, clean and lovely, and the staff were wonderful. The young man at reception was amazing and so nice, though I didn't catch his name. Breakfast service was far too slow, with too little cooked at a time, so we had to wait. It's just uphill from the park near The Ritz, which was fine. The hard part was the woman on the corner dealing most nights. I understand it happens, but with the window open they got very noisy later on. Seeing young drug addicts collecting their fix around 7:30 or 8 pm isn't pleasant. I'd say avoid it if you have children. Such a shame, because the hotel is nice for the price. Sorry, we won't be back.

The hotel is in central Funchal and offers great service at an affordable price. I'd definitely stay there again on a return to Madeira.

I explored Funchal on foot and occasionally took an Uber, since I hadn't rented a car. The Funchal Design Hotel is near the old town, with the Plaza Of Madeira shopping center close by. It's a boutique hotel in Sao Martinho, Funchal, and I was welcomed warmly. My room was spacious and clean. The breakfast room is small, but I enjoyed breakfast there. I can recommend this hotel.

I really liked the kind, attentive staff, and the location is central and convenient. Design details are everywhere in this small hotel, which has about 16 rooms, I think. My room on the fourth floor wasn't large, but it was laid out and equipped thoughtfully.
