Hotel Quinta da Bela Vista

The grounds are cool and restful, and the pool and gym were just right. The 10m pool was long enough for a decent swim. There are three places to eat, including the Mansion, which was a special treat. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful, which made the visit feel special. We had a lovely time at Quinta de Bela Vista. It was our first visit to Madeira, and the hotel is in a good spot in a quiet neighbourhood. Obrigado!

The pool bar has lovely outdoor seating with a gorgeous view, and the staff there are friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful, and everyone was wonderful. It’s a little out of the way, though there’s a courtesy minibus into Funchal centre on weekdays. The guests tend to be older, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for anyone under 50 or 60.

We’d happily come back after a very enjoyable seven days here. Our double room overlooking the garden was a short walk from the main hotel, quiet, comfortable, and well serviced. The gardens, pool, and poolside bar were lovely, with a good view over Funchal. Breakfast and the four-course set dinner were excellent, and staff across the hotel and its facilities were friendly and helpful. There’s a good-sized supermarket nearby, plus regular buses to Funchal and the hotel courtesy bus. The guests do tend to be older, though I’m in that group myself. Paths can be uneven and the walkways to the rooms are cobbled, so take care. All in all, a first-class stay.

It’s very quiet here, with most guests seeming to be 55 or older. The hotel has a historically elegant feel, though the rugs and carpets could use an update. Breakfast was average, but there was a great selection. The gardens and pools are exceptional, and all the staff were extremely kind and helpful. There’s plenty of parking if you have a car, and the location is a good choice if you’d rather stay somewhere peaceful outside the main downtown.
