The hotel is nicely designed inside, and it's near a beautiful street lined with Jacaranda trees. But the soft furnishings seem neglected, almost as if the pillows and sheets were left over from the old hotel before the refurbishment. The pillows have lost their shape, and the pillowcases are torn. Breakfast was nicely presented, though the variety was limited compared with other hotels we've stayed at in Madeira.

The bedding was comfortable and in perfect condition. There's a small fridge, a safe, and a kettle with coffee and tea. The staff were welcoming and helpful, the hotel is very well located, and breakfast had plenty of sweet and savory choices. The half-board dinners were disappointing, though, and clearly not their strong point. We got soup every evening and the same dessert three times. One dinner dish had just four portions of salmon in total. Even so, I highly recommend the hotel.
