Terra Nostra Garden Hotel

Getting into Terra Nostra Gardens and the thermal pool made our stay at Terra Nostra Garden Hotel feel special. The hotel itself was clean and lovely, with comfortable, well-kept rooms and friendly, attentive staff. Breakfast had lots of fresh local choices. Its spot beside the gardens and the quiet, beautiful surroundings made this a highlight of our São Miguel trip. A relaxing stay, and one we’d happily recommend in the Azores.

We were uneasy leaving without knowing what had happened to our power bank. We were certain it had been in the room, though we weren’t accusing anyone, and the hotel’s polite response didn’t turn up the item. It seemed the issue had been set aside. After we contacted the manager, though, the power bank was found and they said they’d send it to us. All’s Well That Ends Well :) The rest of the stay was mostly pleasant. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms comfortable, and the atmosphere fits a destination hotel in the Azores. Service was enthusiastic, sometimes to the point of feeling rehearsed, more like an American hospitality script than the genuine warmth we’d hoped for here. The price is high, and whether the experience fully earns it is debatable.

The best part was being able to use the gardens and pools outside regular visitor hours. In the morning and evening it felt as if we had the place to ourselves. We also had dinner one night, and the steaks were perfect. Breakfast had a good spread, parking was easy, and the staff were attentive. A great stay in Furnas, as expected at this price.

Being able to head straight into the gardens and pools at any hour was SO NICE, especially the quiet after-hours visits to the thermal springs. BIG BONUS. Our gardens-view room was spacious, clean, beautiful, and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, with lots of choice and great service. We also loved the bar area, pool table, and live music.
