We had the three-bedroom apartment, and I’d stay here again. There were five of us from California, and this was the best place we’ve ever stayed, even after traveling all over Europe. It was very clean and modern, with great beds and linens and a very nice kitchen. The area was quiet but close to the main part of town, and our host was very helpful. It’s an incredible apartment, with everything first class. There are other apartments upstairs owned by the same people, suitable for couples.

We had an amazing, very comfortable stay in a great location.

The owner had rented the house to other people for the same dates, I suppose through another booking site, and left six of us stranded, including young children and elderly relatives. We’d booked it through Booking.com in June and had paid in advance. When we arrived on August 8th and entered the code, the door wouldn’t open. An English-speaking woman told us the house was occupied. We called the owner, who made up a thousand excuses about licenses and permits. ALL LIES. Thankfully, Booking.com found us another place to stay. The owner knew what he was doing, and this wasn’t the first time. Leaving people out in the cold with a house booked and paid for in advance just to make a few extra euros is despicable.

The welcome was lovely, even though I can’t remember the name of the person who greeted us. The apartment was right in the center of Guimaraes, kept spotless, and had every little thing we needed. I’d happily come back.
