We spent four nights at the hotel in Guimarães. The room was lovely, spacious and warm, and the spa was good too. I did think breakfast was a bit limited for a four-star hotel. I've stayed at several places in northern Portugal where they had a much wider choice of fresh local food. There wasn't regional bread or croissants here.

The restaurant was the highlight for me. The menu felt elegant, the food was excellent, portions were generous, and prices were very affordable, so I wouldn't bother eating elsewhere. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the staff were very attentive. I highly recommend it.

We appreciated that the landlord paid our parking for all three days after the breakfast service, which we'd originally booked, turned out to be unavailable. The apartment itself was lovely, spotless and had everything we needed. Check-in was easy, even early, and the central spot was peaceful too. We'd happily come back.

The building itself is a symbol of Guimarães, with wonderful facilities. We were welcomed warmly, and the staff were exceptionally friendly.
